Post subject: Gas Vs. Electric

Guys & Dolls
This has not been a factor until the batteries, motors, and electronics has improved to the point where electric costs are just about the same as gas if you are just getting started. I have been flying RC planes since the 1950's when you built your own transmitter and receiver using tubes and flew on 29.995 megs along with everyone else on that freq using rubber band escapements for control. 1 bip for left turn, 2 for right and 3 for motor control (full or idle). Things have progressed to the point where we don't get any interference and the electronics are so small we can fly planes that the weight is less than 10 grams(indoors). We also have planes that are 15 lbs with a payload of batteries to haul it around. The point is electric planes have come a very long way. I have about as many electrics as I do gas. Some flyers like the smell of nitro and are reluctant to try electric. Like I said the cost to enter electrics costs. Charger, Batteries, ESC. Consider the batteries the same as fuel, charger the same as a starter, ESC the same as a big servo. So go try an electric some are RTF and the foamies are pretty cheap.
