Post subject: R/C mojo gone

Geez guys. I was surprised to see an R/C area here on the site. It makes me sick to think about all the cash I've got invested in this stuff. FYI...NEVER save your receipts longer than the warranty!! I was in the hobby for over 15 years. Saved every receipt so I could figure costs invested .vs. fun. Mind you, it was fun. But the investment....oh BOY!!!! And the amount just keeps climbing. $50 here, $100 there. Scale...that's where it gets REAL costly. And the bigger the ship, the more the overall cost. Crashing comes to mind..haha. Which I've done on a few occasions after most of a year on the bench. Sigh.

I've got 9 planes ready to fly, a few fast glass boats, some of my own designs in the scratch building areas too.

On the bench currently is a 1/4 scale Super Chipmunk (true scale) Wing is built, fuse is built, and tail surfaces ready for covering. Then one day after about 7 months work, I closed the door to my building room and walked away. Lost interest for some reason. That was 8 years ago. Damn I miss the smell of nitro Mr. Green

I think a few of the guys here are into, or have been into R/C flying.
I had the bug, spent many a sunny day with a few friends flying and talking...Sadly one moved away, a couple died (old age) and things just weren't the same any more.
I used to fly aerobatics with 63" - 72" models and then have the occasional blast about with a small, very agile aerobatic bi plane.
That, sadly, will be about 10-15 years ago now, Jeez, time flies.

Yeah I have been flying R/C since 1967. I have built a lot of large scale, P51,P47,FW190. Started flying Electrics about 3 years ago and got into 3D and indoor light stuff. I don't save receipts. If I did I could buy a house lol. I started with U-control then Free Flight then R/C with escapements and reed receivers. Built my own system Xmitter, RX and servos. boy that brings back memories. I still fly R/C and I'm the Sec of the local flying club.

thats great stuff guys,my boys and I are just getting in to it,18 years ago I built a 1/5 scale piper cub but never set it up properly or tried to fly it.In the last while we bought a 3 channel electric super cub and have been flying the wings off it,my 11 year old is totally stoked over this. Now we have been taxying the 1/5 scale plane and getting a bit of air now and then but have been really frustrated by our lack of ability to keep our .45 motor running or even getting it to start at all some days (like today for example) Anyway it was nice to hear about some of the experience that you guys have maybe I will post some pics when we finally get the old girl flying Cool

I got two flights out of my one and only RC aircraft.
A tree decided to eat it during my second flight. Shocked
