Post subject: CRASH

Crying or Very sad after some 20 minutes FSX freezes, hourglass shows,no sound, an I-sign or cursor or hourglass depending on the place on the screen ( as if an invisible window is blocking the game). Ctr-Alt Del doesn't work....in short PANIC and CHAOS. It seems to occur after having used the mouse and/or the menu to change views etc. Could not find any solution on the Web so....hopefully there is a solution here.... Sad My FSX uses SP1 and the usual addons of planes and scenery. Just after submitting some rainy screenies of a Beaufighter.....it happened again.... I'll be more than glad if this spooky phenomenon can be put aside. Please, help.

Sorry to hear of your troubles there, wich windows version are you using and what is the latest addon you installed, most likely that there could be the "culprit" also check your Vidcard ventilator and make sure it's clean, a lot of dust can gather there and then they go running hot and shut down, hence fsX CTD

Also I'd strongly advise to either, get Acceleration (cheap as chips these days) or install SP2 as it kills several "Issues"that SP1 has, but you'd have to start from scratch, so backup your fsX install first on a external Drive and then later you can copy the stuff you want back in to the install Wink

Let us know how you fare

Thanks Fled, for this speedy reply. I'm running XP wih all Sp's etc. I dusted off the Vid as well as the rig's intestines -now at 50 degr C - so there's no problem. As for the addons: I'll try to figure where and when things went awry... ..will be a diff thing... The FSX SP2 will be loaded and since I'm going to replace my HD's it might be easier to start all over again once they're installed. However - my FSX has swollen to a hefty 240Gb...I think I need a little caution on what goes where. This will undoubtedly keep me busy and off the street for a while. Thank you for your advice !
