For ex-Ft Bliss troopers with Google Earth
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi Folks!

For those with Google Earth, check out the old PX:

31 49 20.64N by 106 25 39.61W Parking lot west of the building

31 49 18.58N by 106 25 46.14W Loading dock area northeast of the building.

Google just updated the El Paso/Ft. Bliss area last week. Photos are a few months old and are already out of date. The post SGM has taking one of them and a number of others have been moved inside the building. Two more vehicles from Whtie Sands plus a Hind D from the Biggs Field Foreign Equipment Testing Unit have been added to the parking lot. Three of the vehicles in the loading dock area have been moved inside and two more from White Sands have been added to that area.

For you old Ft Bliss troops, check out the area east of Biggs Field.

I remember a Hind at Biggs, back in 1998 when I attended Battle Staff NCO course at the SGM Academy. They also had a hip, but it was in pieces.

It was sorta weird for me when I regularily ran PT on the old tank trails behind Biggs Air Field, in 1998. In 1977-80 as dependant, I used to joy ride out on those same tank trails. It is even where I almost got run over by an XM1 during the desert testing....
