Arnhem...Airborne Museum Hartenstein...Sherman
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

There is an M4A4 75mm Sherman, named Argyle, on outside display. Located on the entrance side of the Museum.
Many years ago there were two Sherman's.
There was a specially made cement pad that it was parked on under the big tree, this was on the city side of the museum.
Where did it go to?
Thanks,
Mike

Ah yes, Thanks.
Had time to dig through my photos.
My May 1983 photo shows the Sherman without markings in dark OD.
Displayed in front of the big tree on gravel.
My Feb 1995 photo shows the Sherman, still in dark OD but with lots of markings, including Argyle and T-288627 on its rear sides.
Now displayed behind the bigger tree on a special brick pad.
The Ordnance QF17 pounder (with the hole in the shield)was also moved about.
My later visits, after 1995, had the Sherman on the other side of the house.
Glad that a Sherman did not disappear.
Thanks again.
Mike
