Danish Arsenal Museum - depot in Værløse
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Danish Arsenal Museum - depot in Værløse

Recently, the Danish Arsenals Museum (Tøjhusmuseet) opened its depot in Værløse for the general public. There are a few armour vehicles in that part of the collection.

Lighting is not optimal for photography, but thought I'd share a few shots anyway:

M5 half-track.
Delivered to the Danish Army from the British Army in 1946 as equipment for the Danish occupation force in Germany. Initially used to tow 17-pdr anti-tank guns, then as an APC until converted to a 81mm mortar carrier in the late 1950ies. Used until ca. 1970.

17-pdr M10 tank destroyer
Serial number 7221. Delivered to the Danish Army as military aid from Canada in 1953-54, in service from 1955 until 1983.

Universal Carrier, C15-TA armour truck, Humber Mk IV
These vehicles were also delivered from the British Army in 1945-47 as equipment for the Danish occupation force in Germany.

The Carrier was converted to a dummy-tank in the 1950ies, carrying a canvas cover representing tank-body and turret. Used in that capacity until the late 1960ies.

The C15-TA was used in numerous roles as an APC, communications vehicle and by the police until ca. 1980.

The Humber Mk. IV was used actively by the two cavalry regiments from the late 1940ies until 1953. They went into mobilization depots until 1960 when they were finally scrapped/sold off.
