Wellsir, if you've made it this far, this bit should be no problem....just a bit more of putting the previous stuff together to expand your possibilities. We're gonna take the two-plane formation flight we've made so far and add a third plane to it. After that, I think the pattern that emerges is kinda obvious and you can keep adding and adding as much as you want (or as much as FS9 will let you....which for me is somewhere around 6 to 10 planes depending on complexity).

To begin, load the last "Saved Flight" flight you saved (airplane number 2) and re-position it over to the other side and a little farther back.

Then, go to the "Recorder" menu and select "Play as traffic..."

Holding%20down%20the%20CTRL%20key%20to%20select%20more%20than%20one%20file,%20select%20the%20FSR%20recording%20files%20that%20have%20been%20created%20for%20this%20flight%20already%20and%20BE%20READY%20TO%20PAUSE%20THE%20SIM%20REAL%20FAST! IMMEDIATELY%20after%20opening%20them,%20PAUSE%20the%20sim.....just%20like%20last%20time%20we%20did%20this.... Then%20change%20your%20plane%20if%20ya%20like...red's%20always%20a%20good%20choice....%20 ....and%20save%20the%20flight%20as%20#3%20in%20the%20series... THEN%20go%20back%20to%20the%20\"Recorder\"%20menu%20and%20select%20\"Record\".... The%20status%20display%20at%20the%20bottom-right%20will%20show%20\"Playing%20and%20Recording\"....go%20back%20into%20the%20cockpit,%20remember%20to%20zoom%20your%20view%20way%20out%20(31%%20recommended)%20and%20UNPAUSE%20the%20sim. In%20this%20example,%20the%20lead%20flight%20waits%2015%20seconds%20before%20flashing%20the%20NAV%20lights%20and%20starting%20the%20roll....if%20you%20look%20closely,%20you'll%20see%20we're%20at%2016%20seconds%20and%20the%20port-side%20red%20NAV%20light%20has%20been%20lit....so%20let's%20roll.... And%20once%20again,%20just%20a%20matter%20of%20flying%20smoothly%20and%20using%20trim%20and%20small%20adjustments%20to%20throttle%20and%20stick%20to%20stay%20in%20position..... Remember%20you%20can%20always%20pause%20to%20take%20a%20breather%20and%20step%20outside%20to%20check%20your%20position.....lookin'%20okay..... Turns%20take%20the%20most%20practice,%20throttle%20up%20on%20the%20outside%20of%20the%20turn%20and%20throttle%20back%20on%20the%20inside...your%20mileage%20may%20vary..... Make%20ya%20a%20snazzy%20landing%20and%20taxi%20back%20for%20a%20group%20parking%20snapshot... And%20don't%20forget%20to%20save%20the%20new%20recording%20as%20a%20new%20file,%20like%20#3%20in%20the%20series! WRAP-UP%20(for%20now): Those%20are%20the%20basics,%20and%20the%20only%20other%20thing%20to%20say%20is%20that%20you%20can%20keep%20repeating%20the%20above%20to%20add%20more%20planes%20as%20you%20like.%20%20One%20thing%20additional%20to%20note%20is%20that%20Helicopters%20don't%20work%20(due%20to%20the%20way%20FS%20handles%20the%20AI)%20but%20there's%20a%20trick%20around%20that,%20that%20I%20can%20cover%20in%20a%20future%20section.%20%20IF%20you%20want%20a%20helo%20mixed%20in%20there,%20there's%20no%20reason%20you%20couldn't%20fly%20a%20helo%20in%20real-time%20while%20replaying%20some%20fixed-wing%20recordings.%20%20But%20FSR%20crashes%20when%20you%20record%20and%20then%20try%20to%20play%20back%20a%20helo. The%20big%20thing%20is%20that%20after%20recording%20what%20you%20like,%20you%20can%20then%20increase%20your%20graphic%20settings%20and%20detail%20levels,%20and%20go%20fuss%20and%20play%20with%20the%20weather%20and%20time%20and%20all%20that%20to%20get%20the%20effects%20you%20want%20while%20using%20the%20\"Play\"%20function,%20and%20enjoy%20yourself....then%20you%20start%20to%20see%20the%20real%20possibilities,%20even%20from%20a%20quick-n-dirty%20example%20as%20this%20flight.....which%20I%20think%20I%20will%20call.... \"Three%20Mild%20Fliers%20over%20Three%20Mile%20Island\" (corny%20I%20know)......%20:roll:%20:D ...and%20there's%20no%20rule%20that%20says%20you%20can't%20use%20different%20aircraft%20for%20each%20individual%20recordings....lotsa%20interesting%20mixes%20you%20can%20create... And.....as an added bonus for anyone who's read this far!

The FS-Recorder "recordings" of the 3 Cessna's in formation are now available in the download section so you can snag 'em and play 'em yourself. Instructions (brief & simple, believe it or not) are in the README.

Just unzip the file, load one of the saved flights (included in the ZIP) which will put you at the airfield and in the plane, and then go hit "Play" and load the recordings. Done!

If you're registered and logged in then just follow this link to the Download section, under "FS2004 - Utilities"....

GO HERE! <--- Click clickclickclickclick....


(And, Yup, I'd really like to hear from anyone who's tried it and how well it's worked for them!)...

YO, Stoop...I haven't tried any of this (still waiting on new system, as you know) but have you seen this guy's vid with the helicopters? Forget the first part, but you and Fr8ycat need to see the second part with Baunton's UH-1 Huey 1969. He did it in New Zealand, but THINK of the possibilities for Vietnam...like say, Phu Bai and some other choice spots like the Pleiku scenery. With some other birds, obviously...( I see a few meshing blades that would have ended in disaster, real world)

And.... (HUGE grin here).... I was wondering if you'd spotted it or looked, but a sharp eye will notice that in the Tutorial screenshots, there are existing FS-Recorder "recording" files on my system called "Charlies_Point_Lead_UH1" and "Charlies_Point_Lead_UH1AI".
I leave it to your fertile imagination who Charlie might be, where his point would be found, and why a UH-1 (or two, or more...) would be involved.....

Part of working toward the goal of a certain 'pact'.... Wink

And heck, I'll be happy to cover the oddities of making helos work with FSR at a later time, if there's interest...

Cool! Glad ya like it.

FOr what it's worth, there is a bit of a "tutorial" I helped with on using helos in FS-Recorder, it's just at a different site (gasp!).....specifically, the FS-Recorder site, in the forums there. It's not as straightforward as I'd like to do for here, but has been around a while and I think if you'll read it you'll see how the whole concept was worked by a few people and different problems were slowly hashed out.

It does require the use of another "support" tool called Rename-It, which is avaible for download at Matthias' site as well.

The only advice I'd give right now is to be sure you're comfortable with the whole FS-Recorder "Record....Play as Traffic.....Record while Playing as Traffic.....Play" concept and give it a few run-throughs so that it all makes perfect sense, and then learning what you have to do with the helos and when....and why......will be easier.

To be honest I need to do some setup work on my new system and re-verify a few things before I write anythign else up (specifically, a problem I had with using the Bell 206, which is curable but not really covered there). I'll hurry as much as I can. And thanks for the link, Ascout, I foudn it interesting about using the King Air "air" file and will try that if the other air file suggested (stemme_as_air2.air) doesn't pan out for twin-turbine helos. Wink
