Military Rules - multi-service
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Military Rules - multi-service

Marine Corps Rules:
1. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one.
2. Decide to be aggressive enough, quickly enough.
3. Have a plan.
4. Have a back-up plan, because the first one probably won't work.
5. Be polite. Be professional. But, have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
6. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun whose caliber does not start with a "4".
7. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive.
8. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. (Lateral & diagonal preferred.)
9. Use cover or concealment as much as possible.
10. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours.
11. Always cheat; always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
12. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived.
13. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating your intention to shoot.

Navy SEAL Rules:
1. Look very cool in sunglasses.
2. Kill every living thing within view.
3. Adjust Speedo.
4. Check hair in mirror.

US Army Rules:
1. Curse bitterly when receiving operational order.
2. Make sure there is extra ammo and extra coffee.
3. Curse bitterly.
4. Curse bitterly.
5. Do not listen to 2nd Lieutenants; it can get you killed.
6. Curse bitterly.

US Army Ranger Rules:
1. Walk in 50 miles wearing 75 pound rucksack while starving.
2. Locate individuals requiring killing.
3. Request permission via radio from "Higher" to perform killing.
4. Curse bitterly when mission is aborted.
5. Walk out 50 miles wearing a 75 pound rucksack while starving.

US Air Force Rules:
1. Have a cocktail.
2. Adjust temperature on air-conditioner.
3. See what's on HBO.
4. Ask "what is a gunfight?"
5. Request more funding from Congress with a "killer" Power Point presentation.
6. Wine & dine 'key' Congressmen, invite DOD & defense industry executives.
7. Receive funding, set up new command and assemble assets.
8. Declare the assets "strategic" and never deploy them operationally.
9. Hurry to make 13:45 tee-time.
10. Make sure the base is as far as possible from the conflict but close enough to have tax exemption.

US Navy Rules:
1. Go to Sea.
2. Drink Coffee.
3. Deploy Marines

And the most important

11. Send officers out to get shot at while NCOs go to the club for a beer while waiting to recover planes

Which proves the Air Force has the smartest enlisted troops in the military

Olde tops rules
Rule 1. There are only three things that will get you killed in combat:
1. Stupidity, yours, theirs, or "them"!
2. You run out of luck!
3. And worst of all, stupidity and you run out of luck!
Rule 2. Nothing ever changes, nothing!
Rule 3. "OK listen up men" always means what ever follows is going to be bad news! Mr. Green

And "@#$%$#@ Pigs" still suck

No...@#$%^# Pigs or Ontos aka the selfpropelled dumpster (hiya dontos Mr. Green ). My M60s (MG) never let me down, never once in three years in Nam, burned a lot of barrels out and they still put out with a cracked feel tray. Some went bad with cracked extractor but thats because APG never did learn to test anything under combat conditions.

Well, some folks tend to disparage the M60 MG mightily, but the five or so I had occasion to wield in harm´s way always performed as advertised for this lil' piggie (except maybe for the one I inadvertantly wrapped around a tree, but that was my fault ).

As for the Ontos....I'm clearing outta' here before an enraged DONTOS shows up! Laughing

HEY OLD TOP!!! (or is it 'OLDER TOP' now ?) Been awhile....Hope all is well.

I read your above 'exclaimation' and knew EXACTLY what you were talking about.

Of course,....I accept your point of view, as made from 'the horses mouth'. No problem. THANKS FOR YOUR REMARKS. Its good to hear from you.

What about the ole' M1919A4....???!?

Speaking of "...@#$%^# Pigs".... I got to do a little drive around on 16 June, no photos or video unfortunately. She sure does purr....(she squeals & slides in a 90 degree slide turn!!! Mr. Green Mr. Green )

Regards,
Don

I still have 'ya'll' in mind. Wink

Amazing how much 'one' wants for a few sections of 'antique' band track.... Still digging for alternate sources though....

Anyway, this was the first test run since Aug 06, when R.Lee Ermey got his test drive....

Chris C was a witness to my little test drive....

I had a "0353 - OC" screamin', sure does power thru turns.... Mr. Green

Caution & care are always important.

Regards
Don

The M1919A4 was only as good the training the troops who used it got..although there was always the problem ( head separation) of the old "re-packed" ammo, this problem was shared by all the vehicles with 1919s, USMC M48A3s, P5 LVTS, as well as the Ontos. In the latter part of 1969 the reseve tank unit (M48A3s) I was with ordered 30cal belted and when the cans were opened they were fabric belted.

..Dontos.. familys been in a two year fight with the Big "C"..looks like we won!
