Did we lose some more threads?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Neil,
In a work, yes. I've posted in Mod's forum about it. Even the original announcement about the incident has disappeared from the O.C forum and I couldn't get on for some hours last night. Suggest no big effort be made on linking threads to registry stuff or other efforts until we get a report (and some experience) from host service about what to expect regarding short-term stability. Perhaps there was a backup install attempted that was even less current than what we had, don't know.

don't you think that it would be possible to download the pages from the forum that were "saved" by Google and put them again on the server?
Neil, you provided a page which came from Google but I can't find it again.

Another Update...

It seems as if our Web Host was trying to help us out after I had restored the site to an earlier time. When we were done with the site restore yesterday, all was in place. When I got up this morning and checked the site, it was broken. Tech Support admitted to screwing up the database again and I've restored it to this June 30 version again. They (TS) have promised to leave this alone so we should be 'good to go'.

Again, sorry for the foul up.

Here's the cache of topics:

74.125.93.132/search?q...clnk&gl=us

To get the actual thread contents you'll need to search for the thread title in google.

Will save me from putting new registrations all the time Wink

Actually, that was, in effect, being done (admins had their own backup). Unfortunately, there was a confluence of events where the admin backups were on a system that crashed recently in an unrelated event to the host system hiccup. Redundancy was lost to bad timing. As it happens, the admins backup was at least more current that the server host, as was demonstrated last night when the parent tried to "help" after the June backups were already installed.

There is reason to believe that site will be stable now, or at least updates from today forward will be independently available. It's inconvenient, but not nearly as bad as it might have been.
