The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. I'am afraid, yes. My opinion, keep it original. If it is old or modern, just keep it original, its more interesting than al those fake colours, numbering etc.

Just my 2 cents....

Is that the recently famous pillaged gearbox on the floor in front of it?

No, the looted Tiger II gearbox came from Axvall Armor Museum in Sweden as did the "swapped" Tiger II engine. It's truly a dreadful story to which we haven't seen the end yet ...

Hi Walter,

This Panther was built when the war was already ended , so it had no numbers and probably no paint.

Wim.

what was the colour of the Panther in the late 60's - early 70's picture?

Panzergrey or a very dark green, it's not realy clear from the picture

Another thing if it is an post-war production it was most likely primer red
So the colours the Panther has now are from an histoical point of view, more accurate then every thing before Mr. Green
Now it is primer red with dark yellow stripes

In WHEELS & TRACKS no. 62 there are some pictures from the panthers and jagdpanthers we are talking about.

Is there copyright or is it allowed to show the article?

Regards,
Wim.

would it be more realistic to paint in in British green without any turret number, or is the current late primer red/dunkelgelb paint adequate ?

I think the way it looks now, is best

it just has the German crosses and no numbers or other things

I would have to say it was the eighties. That because the "Porchse turreted" King tiger next to it is in a camo scheme. I visited the museum in the early eighties and it was just plain sand at that time.
