Post subject: Garmin GPS' manuals

Hallo, Gents!

Last Sunday, Wingnut started a conversation about the features available on the Garmin GPS, and we thought a manual would have been of great help, to discover all of the things this rig can do.

So, as promised, I made a quick search and found Garmin site almost immediately, and as I supposed, there are available all the manuals you can dream of in PDF format.

The link to the Garmin site is:
-> www.garmin.com/ (hey, what esle could have it been?)

I saw that basically two models are in use inside FS9, the Garmin GPS 500 and the Garmin portable GPSMAP 295; all the documents you need about both are present.

Here are direct hard links for the GPSMAP 295 (they will open Acrobat):
-> www.garmin.com/manuals...sGuide.pdf (manual)
-> www.garmin.com/manuals...tGuide.pdf (quick start)

And for the GPS 500:
-> www.garmin.com/manuals...sGuide.pdf (manual)
-> www.garmin.com/manuals...eGuide.pdf (quick start)

There are also more documents, for optional displays and interfaces, FDE predictions (but have no idea what it's there for), traffic display and so on. To get a full list of the files available, here's the link:
-> www.garmin.com/support...roduct=All

Have fun!

Marco

Heh... you guys should see the manual I've got for the Garmin 430 in the planes at my school. I just took a picture of it, I'll put it up so you can see it and all 192 pages of it's goodness.

Oh, I should also mention that the GPS's in flight sim are severely lacking compared to the real thing. Imagine, if you can get that much with the flight sim ones, what the real deals are capable of.

Hi, XcalibeR,

in fact, the PDF's provided on the Garmin site are the reproduction of the paper ones: the manual for the GPS 500 is 182 pages big, and I confess a bit discouraging, 'cause as you rightly state the sim version can't have all the fuctions applied, and it might be slightly weird to follow indicated instructions where some features are lacking.

Anyway, if you're insomniac and just finished reading the Divine Comedy for the third time and have nothing else to keep yourself busy, this can be a less boring option Mr. Green
