I shudder to think how many lives are needlessly lost due to the incessant need to pause, watch, then continue flight. Tsunamis, pyroclastic flows, mudslides, etc. all look slow at a distance, but that is deceiving...and they are relentless....and they don't pause to allow you to catch your breath and escape. When you have a chance to run, drop your crap and run.
