Post subject: File transfers to 4.071m

Haven't seen anything on the site about file transfers into the latest version of Il-2 (4.071m). Found an interesting tidbit about using mision and skin files from 4.04m in the new version so I tried it and it works.

Had a slight problem with mission files that had the same number assigned in the folder but that was easliy corrected by just renaming the file.

Its tedious going through every plane folder but if your like me and fly the same planes most of the time it goes pretty fast.

The author made a suggestion that after transferring all the files over you gain a lot of space deleting earlier versions of the game and just planned on flying the latest version.

Hope this helps. Cool Cool Cool

What I did was to copy over from the 4.04 original IL2 directory to the 1946 IL2 and overwrite directories for missions, paint schemes, users, and the config.ini file.

It was easy, lost nothing, and all the new material remained. Just as if I was still playing 4.04...except better. By copying the user directory you keep the pilots, and controls. The config.ini then contains all of the preferences and additions you made to 4.04, including screen resolutions settings etc.

Took less than 4 minutes.
