Info about the 'IP Selection' window in the Select program.

This window displays potential IP/adapters found on your system. It is used to
help try to ensure that you get CFS connected to the session using the correct
IP adddress.

While many users may have never run into problems in this area, there are plenty
of you out there that have. This will hopefully eliminate those problems.

The 'Select IP' window will come up the first time you run Select. After that, it
will only come up if your click on the 'Show IP list' button, or if you have added
or removed adapters from your system.

The left window contains IP/adapters that are found on your system. The right window
contains IP\adapters that will be ignored by BRUNHOST when trying to determine the proper
IP address to place in the 'Enter address' box in the CFS multiplayer window. Note that the
right window will contain nothing the first time you run Select since no INI file was found
(Select hasn't created it yet).

If only one adapter is listed, you are all set. Just click on 'Done'.

Otherwise.....

Several different types of adapters may show up:

PPP adapter
AOL adapter
various other adapters (network cards, etc.)

The PPP adapter is used by Dialup networking when you connect to the Internet using
a phone line and modem.

The AOL adapter is just a PPP adapter for AOL users.

Note that these PPP adapters will show an IP address of 0.0.0.0 if they are not connected.
BRUNHOST will automatically ignore unconnected PPP adapters, so you don't need to move them
to the right window. Therefore, you can leave all the PPP adapters on the left side. However,
if you always connect using one of them, you can move the other one(s) to the right side.

If only PPP type adapters are shown, you are all set. Click on 'Done'.

Ok, that should have taken care of a lot of you. LOL.

So, you have non-PPP adapters listed, eh???

If you connect to the Internet using Dialup networking, move any non-PPP type adapters to the
right window. That should do it. Click 'Done'.

That should have handled a few more of you. LOL.

Sooooo, you connect to the Internet some other way, eh??? You lucky bastage.

Here's where my knowledge gets a bit weaker, but we'll see what we can do to help ya out.

Some of you have a static IP address (always the same IP). Look thru the list and find that
IP, then move any OTHER adapters to the right side. That should do it. Click 'Done'.

Hmmmm. You still here???? Rut ro. Not sure what ya got there.

Try this. Open up your browser, and go to http://www.zone.com (or your favorite site). This
will require an Internet connection of course. LOL.

Ok, once you have the site up in your browser, do the following:

Click on 'Start' (that little button in the corner of you screen, hehe), then 'Programs', then
'MS-DOS Prompt'. A DOS window should come up. Just type 'netstat -n' (not the quotes, only
what's inside them) and hit Enter. Your current connections will be listed. Look for a Foreign
Address that ends with :80 That is a connection to a web site. Now check the Local Address
on that same row. That is your IP address and port for that connection.

Now, go back to the 'Select IP' window and look for that IP address Move all the OTHER adapters
to the right side. That should do it. Click 'Done'.
