JoeD's Frankenstein (M48A5/M60A2)
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

RN is stenciled in the side is 30177551. Seems more of the old USA #s (if the # is legit)

Cast SNs seem to corrispond from back deck and on front slope. The 'box' seems to be a power box of some sort. welded SN is upside down, just below the box.

This matches casted SN on the back (932 ) Not sure what else this might be.

What model is the hull? It's older than M48A5. I wonder if the box on the glacis is for a bulldozer blade? Maybe the tow lugs were cut to accomodate the blade? Looks like headlight mounts are gone too. And possibly the fire extinguisher handles.

That was one of my thoughts

It's at Valley Station KY VFW

maps.google.com/maps?f...r&om=1

Don could you make out any of the registration number on the side?

Nor do I recall a lifting handle being a regular feature on the loader's hatch.

Thanks, Don...that's a weird one alright!

The Frankentank!!

Tow lugs cut off (so we can't trace serial number? Rolling Eyes ) and then lifting eyes put on the upper glacias, and what is that box in front of the driver hatch? It looks like it may be some kind of a power connector?
