The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Okay everyone, V3.1 of the USA AFV Register is now available at 216.176.92.62/afv/USA_AFVs.pdf.

First off, many thanks to Michel van Loon for helping me rebuild the last draft I had before my hard-drive crashed last year. Of course many countless others have helped with info.

The big changes in this new version are the following:

1) The Museum moves

Armor, Ordnance, ADA, 1st AD, etc. Compared to 3 years ago, the majority of these collections are no longer on display. Unfortunately, the Patton Museum / Fort Knox no longer rank as a major AFV collection - most of its vehicles are now in storage at Fort Benning. Many Ordnance Museum vehicles have similarly moved to storage at Fort Lee, but a rump remainder (soon to become the "Aberdeen Proving Ground Museum") are still at APG and it still ranks as a major collection. Some changes at Fort Hood as well, but mostly just changing the names of the 4th ID Museum to 3rd ACR Museum. Unfortunately the ADA collection is now in storage at Fort Sill, but "new" AFVs have arrived at Fort Bliss for the future 1st AD Museum from Germany.

2) I have added coordinates, specifically in cities and even National Guard armories. However, I have avoided providing coordinates for AFV locations on active duty military bases (though I have provided cross-streets).

3) I have included links for photo galleries of each vehicle whenever possible. Frankly, some of these may already be broken - a given with a "living document" like this. In general I have tried to provide galleries instead of single pics.

4) The Serial Number disclaimer on page 4. 'Nuff said.

Thanks all! I'll try to push out new versions more quickly in the future - frankly lots of "life events" (changing jobs, including some higher work demands, and getting married) intervened over the past few years.

I didn't see a mention of this anywhere, but the Flying Heritage Collection in Everett, WA acquired a T-34/85 and Jagdpz 38/G-13 last year. Neil - Posted 11 more galleries to the SC section of the smugmug site - the post is in the AFV main forum - including the elusive Mt Pleasant M59.

Consider it a wedding gift from Mrs VB and me! Smile

I'm working on getting all the smaller AFV locations we've photographed posted ASAP to facilitate the updating of the AFV Register.
When that is done I'll get the larger museums and collections posted. Those tend to be better documented informationally and photographically anyway, so I figure I've got more time with them.

Congrats on the wedding! Here's to a long and happy life together!

Thanks man. I've made at least two trips on my own to try to find that one - based on coordinates that were posted on the old geocaching site. Clearly they were wrong.

My wedding reception is just two miles away from there this Saturday - but no, I wont be making a stop Wink

Unfortunately I havent been able to update the Canada register. I would, however, welcome someone to try to update it on their own! Michel did a great job updating the USA register, and I've been working on some tweaks ever since - of course VB here keeps posting new galleries & info I have to include! Wink

Neil-regarding the "Fort Economy Sam Werner Museum" you added as a new listing in the new registry draft, I've located an address and coordinates, based on their website:

Which gives the address as 6587 State Route 180, Kingston, OH 45644. Judging by the vehicles on the ground I'd say the coordinates 39.439541,-82.835675 are about right. This one is more or less close to the Vinton County Airport I also intend to visit this summer, so I'll post a report if and when I visit.

Appears to be located near the intersection of Museum Rd and Cloniger Ct, Rock Hill, SC.
