Militracks show, May 14 & 15, 2011 (Overloon, Holland)
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi all,

on the weekend of May 14th and 15th 2011 the Militracks WW2 German Vehicle Show will be held again at the grounds of the Liberty Park Museum at Overloon, The Netherlands (40 km south of Nijmegen). About 40 - 45 original and restored German military vehicles will be on show and can be seen riding around the 2 km long off-road course at the museum grounds. And even better: visitors will have the chance to ride along! Mr. Green

Last year the vehicles on show included several motorcycle combinations, Kubels, Schwimmers, Stoewer Kubel, Steyr truck, Mercedes staff car, Kettenkrads, several Opel Blitz trucks, several types of halftracks (both softskin and armoured) and a Jagdpanzer.

On both days there is also an (outdoor) militaria market, and on sunday only also an (indoor) military scale modellers' show and market. The museum itself will be open both days.

Admission is €10.00 pp/per day, and that includes full access to the Militracks show, the museum, the militaria market and the modellers' show. Parking is free, tickets for the vehicle rides are sold seperately.

For more information see www.militracks.nl/

Below are some pics of last years' event. I think most of these vehicles (and many more) will be present again this year. All were available for visitors to have a ride with.

Oh dear, my birthday weekend.
Wife said we should away for a few days.
Oh lordy, the temptation!

I just heard that our group will be present again with the same 5 vehicles as last year: Schwimmwagen, SdKfz. 7 (cargo), SdKfz. 250, SdKfz. 251 and a Panzerjager 38(t) Hetzer.

Looks like I'll be there too. Just coincidence - I finish a course at Ijmuiden on Friday 13th, so I'll try to visit Amersfoort later that day and Overloon on Saturday 14th before flying home.

Are you going by car or by public transport?

I found this partial list of participating vehicles on the net, not sure if it is 100% accurate but the organiser told me that the vehicle count is now 46. That is about 10 more than last year, and the amount of interest from owners to participate is overwhelming, I've been told. I'll be there Friday till Sunday. Mr. Green

I'm planning to hire a car Friday lunchtime, probably at Schiphol, and return it early Saturday afternoon.

To help plan the trip I've put various museums and solitary tanks from my website and from Michel's register on a Google map - here's the link in case it's useful to anyone else:

Nice map, Trevor Wink

Be adviced that there is a lot of road contruction planned during the weekend at the various highway's.
So depending on traffic it could take a additional 20-30 minutes to get from Schiphol to Overloon or Overloon - Schiphol

I will be at Overloon the 15th, because I have other plans for the 14th (a military vehicle tour)

Concerning the list, I don't think they wil be using the T34
They are using this to test the vehicle driving track, check corners etc.

Tim,

That would be great - will you be at Overloon? I'll be travelling a lot so we can meet up somewhere else if it's more convenient.
