This is why I buy lottery tickets..did some of this when I was younger, would do it at the drop of a hat today if I could afford it. The proximity base jumping looks like the best rush. After your first jump..gives you a whole new way of looking at life and loving it..enjoy

I remember those days. My first rig totaled about 2% of the cost of a basic modern rig today (that included the USAF surplus T10 and reserve, container, KMart motorcycle helmet and a used jumpsuit...I already had jump boots from military school). I think I had less than $150 invested in gear. Wing suits were essentially illegal (at least no ASO would approve) and the few people jumping Volplanes (an early airfoil design with about a 20% malfunction rate) generally jumped two reserves. Guys with real funding and committment to the sport had ParaCommnander Mk I's while the rest of us cut various pattern steering holes ("gores") in our canopies with a soldering iron.

Like the "four Yorkshiremen"....."you try telling the young people of today that...and they won't believe ya'!" Laughing

@ Ascout, I use to jump the T10 at Toronto Parachute School, we used front mounted reserves with the .." Look , Pull, Punch and Pray " method..lol...

@ bsmart, " when you are wearing a perfectly good parachute "

its a sport that everyone should try once.

Same here. How can one be expected to tear/cut their way into a back mounted reserve? Laughing

Here are some fun nostalgia pages I have bookmarked...
