Our plans and trips to military museums
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I'm mostly after serial numbers, e.g.
UID 1711: M4 on trailer - might need some creative work with a camera on a pole!
UID 1709: M4A2 (105)
UID 1710: M4A3 (105)
UID 1716: M32
UID 1718: M48 AVLB
UID 1721: T-34
UID 1722: T-55
UID 1705: Sexton (usually on rear hull just below starting handle hole)

Any pictures of the M4A1 outside would also be good.

Anything you get is appreciated!

I've found the Serial Number of the M4A4 on the trailer, it is SN 5657 :

There is no M4A2(105), both are M4A3(105). Note that I don't think that any M4A2 was built with a 105mm howitzer, only M4 and M4A3.
During my last visit in September 2011, I've tried to find the SN on all of the Shermans, but I was only able to find it on the M4A4 on the trailer, the M4A4 Crab (SN 5230), the Baldwin M4 75mm (SN 15499) and that's it.

The M48 AVBL could have the SN 4450, but I'm not 100% sure.

One has to scratch the paint on the rear tow lugs of the M32B2, because I've seen traces of the serial but they can't be read with all the paint currently on them..

If you try to look on some of the M4A3(105) Sherman tow lugs, there is some grease on some of them, and one has to be careful..

Based on P-O observations I've updated the to-do list:

Serial numbers:

UID 1718: M48 AVLB
UID 1721: T-34
UID 1722: T-55
UID 1705: Sexton (usually on rear hull just below starting handle hole)

Pictures:

M4A1 outside would also be good.
M4 on trailer - might need some creative work with a camera on a pole!

Trevor, are you looking for pictures of any other subjects?

Chris reported great news about Wildegg (Switzerland). The Museum now opens to the public once a month, April-October.
I was there in the past (thanks to Chris), but pictures I took weren't that great (my mistake), so I have an extra reason to visit it once again within the following months. They mostly focus on Swiss material, but they have some US stuff too:

I managed to photograph most of the tanks during my visit but not the following:

Valentine bridgelayer
Crusader gun tractor
IS-2 (actually I did photograph it, but it was attached to a market stall)
Renault FT
T-34-85 (green)

Michel, Walter and Tim have kindly given me some photos of these, but I wouldn't say no to a few more recent ones and greater coverage.

Fine, they are all interesting subjects I wouldn't miss myself, apart the T-34/85. I'll add them to the to-do list, just to be 100% sure.

Thanks everyone who has sent me Overloon pictures. I'll upload them all as soon as I can.

Walter, I have pictures from you of the Overloon Panther and T34, but not of the Valentine bridgelayer.

Thanks. To be fair, I have a backlog of photos from many people that I'm starting to work through, so it's possible I've missed that you've already sent them.

Corrected, thank you.

I had found and photographed the serial numbers on the Crab and M4 myself, but thanks anyway.

The M48 AVBL could have the SN 4450, but I'm not 100% sure.

Added (as unconfirmed) - thanks.

Unique ID 1718: Overloon M48A2 AVLB

M4 on trailer - might need some creative work with a camera on a pole!

Massimo - for the 'M4 on trailer' I should have said M4A4, it's the one P-O has given the number for above, so I don't need anything further.

Nice, but those pictures are probably in copyright so I can't use them. As it happens Walter has sent me some early Overloon photos (1974) which I've just added:

Unique ID 53: Overloon Panther

Unique ID 143: Overloon Crusader Gun Tractor
