I regret to inform you all that a bushpilot I know was killed with his wife on the Trans Canada Highway near Golden B.C. His kids, who i have played hockey with and have met were both injured. Natasha,15, who I met once has a broken leg and a fractures spine. Justin, who I played hockey with has two broken legs. His name was Brad Calder and unfoutuatley he didnt die doing somthing he loved.... or mabey he did. I dont know.

So sorry to hear this Hawk, a terrible thing to happen indeed ...especially when friends are involved. ,,,I wish your friends a speedy recovery. The loss of thier folks must be just plain hell on earth,,,I can't even imagine such heartache and loss.

I will say this though,,,,,,being from Golden and knowing the amount of people killed every year there because of those highways on either side just sickens me. the two worst stretches of highway in Canada are on either side of golden,,,,to the west there is the Rogers pass and too the east the kicking horse canyon,,,,until one has driven these sections of road you can't imagine just how dangerous they really are, even with the millions of dollars being sunk into the widening and bridge alterations in the kicking horse canyon over the last few years. the statistics of deaths on these two stretches of highway are staggering ....I am terribly sorry to hear some friends of yours have been added to this huge list.....

I have also been through that stretch of highway. The guy who hit them was in an SUV while they were in an Alero sedan. The guy was also on crack and running from the Law.(Not a high-speed chase though)
