Oregon Military Museum Gallery
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Oregon Military Museum Gallery

Hi All,

We’ve posted a gallery of images from the Living History Day event hosted by the Oregon Military Museum, Camp Withycombe, in Clackamas, OR.

The museum’s M4A3(75) Sherman (SN 12560, RN 3054715) and Japanese Type 95 Ha-Go were on display by the entrance to a ORNG building.

As I note in the gallery description on the site, the museum is still being refurbished and is likely still a few years away from reopening to the public. I had made contact with the curator, Tracy Thoennes, prior to the event in an attempt to gain access to the artillery collection and stored AFVs and while that didn’t work out, she did arrange a quick behind-the-scenes tour during the LVH event.

On the BTS tour, I got a chance to see and photograph the museum’s M7B1 Priest (sorry P-O, no SN on tow lug and couldn’t find a trace of the number stamped in the rear sides) M41A3, and M42. In the workshop area I got a quick glimpse of their beautifully restored Japanese Type 96 15cm Howitzer, complete with a wooden projectile made by a volunteer.

Also included in the gallery are images of the many private vehicles and ORNG vehicles that participated in the event.

Nice Pics, I think they might have the best collection of Japanese artillery in the US, when you go back make them let you see it.....
