Where can I find SMC?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Jiri,
There's a Standard Manufacturing LLC in New Britain, CT they are on facebook. Small arms, outdoor equipment. I could find nothing on Standard Manufacturing, Dallas, TX. Probably they merged with another company or went out of business. Did they make the 8x8 chassis mounting the Vulcan AA system? If so I'll dig through my files to see if anything is there. I did see the actual vehicle at Aberdeen in the 1980s. Rick

Rick,
yes, it is a Vulcan Wheeled Carrier (VWC). I'm interested in all available information.
1 / I found a link to the business is supposedly the successor to Standard Manufacturing Company.
2 / I found a site where one prototype corrode (april 2016).
I look forward to your reply.

Hi George! Great to hear from you. I miss the old AFV News magazines, but this site honors your AFV legacy. Take care, Rick

Jiri, I found my old Standard Mfg Co info, in some old Army magazines. Have posted some info on my site: AFVs Of the World. I can send you more via PM, just ask. Rick

Dear Rick,
The company Standard Mfg Co in Dallas once produced a prototype of an 8x8 vehicle that interests me - see the appendix.
Thank you for your willingness to help me.

The Wreck of the Wheeled Carrier Volcano was located in Florida (2016), approximately at this coordinate: 30°39'41.3"N, 84°41'38.5"W.

Jiri, Check your face book messenger account, I'd sent some Standard Mfg Co items on there (more coming) on the TAD Vulcan and some other variants. Rick

Face book page: "AFVs of the World" by Richard Eshleman. or email: rbeshcook @ aol.com.

Jiri, I looked on Google earth for the prototype in Florida, found it in 2016, but not 2018. It was for sale, any idea who bought it?

Dear Rick,
I apologize for the delayed response. I'm an "old guard" and my daughter help with Facebook Messenger.
Thank you for the scans sent.
I accidentally discovered the Standard 8x8 prototype years ago on Google Street View. I don't know where the prototype ended up.
Cheers Jiri
