Well I found a couple more fixes and have sent the updated files to Stoopy.

I've also been spending the day gazing out my back door. Since it started raining here in So. Cal. I am watching a depression form in my backyard over my septic tank Sad

Ascout, checked your last concern and dont have that prob on my end. I imagine the rotor animations are probably tied to the same problem your having with your RRPM gauge, neither adjusts accordingly to your throttle input. Which Version of FS are you using, 2004?

OK Bushy, you got it. Turns out there's...one...LOL...last thing to correct, so you're it.

Expect a PM soon!

Yep, FS2004. My throttle/collective of course has the desired "effect", but no visual cues of the changes. If no one else is seeing this problem, then don't let it hold up release...mine is obviously peculiar to some file 'o mine.

My rpm guage is pegged, it doesn't alter with the throttle. I just took it as fixed rpm and the 'throttle' lever adjusted collective.

If I bring up the collective stick and throttle down using that, then the rpm drops.

You cannot start the helo unless the throttle setting on the collective stick is set to open...Anywhere else and the helo won't start.

LOL, I thought I'd picked up a problem with the altimeter earlier until I discovered Meigs was 600ft above sea level.

Isn't that normal though? For me, the throttle (on joystick) just alters the torque percent gauge (top left), which is common for all other helos on my system. Does the stock Bell 206 act differently for you in this regard, Kit?

Bushy, check PM, thanks, and maybe you can see what she do for you......

Post subject: Re: Helo BETA Tester?

Thanks for the file and yep, I like it!

Lucky for me you guys sorted the bugs out by the time I got this Helo! Wink

I look at things a bit different than some people. I look at the EZ installer, wording, disclaimers, install path, then go on to the flight model.

Installer is great! Nice job! Path is correct and all files go in the places intended.

Flight model. Outstanding. Hovers and flys nice, and I have to say the horizon meter is second to none on any aircraft I've noticed in FS9. Nice touch on the lighting and I really like the way you can 'power up' the rotor with the spin dial on the collective. All switches work as well as lights including the landing and nav lights and they work in VC also, another very nice feature.

Fellas, if there are any more bugs, it'll be very small bugs such as something inaccurate or distorted bmp's, but I didn't notice any. All in all, this is ready IMO and nice job! It's now one of my favorite 'choppers' in the game.

Thanks Bushy and all the testers. If Stoopy isn't cursing yet he will be once he checks his email Shocked

I found 2 more small fixes but we wont torture any of the testers with another download unless they feel like it. The changes wont affect anything that is already done.

Thanks again to all the testers and those that pitched in to help.

It should hopefully be available for everybody by tomorrow.

I think we have a little misunderstanding here, Smile

Yes the OH-6A is near identical in operation to the stock Bell 206B Jet ranger.
I was just trying to say that my rpm/turbine gauge works..:)

The two differences between the two helo's...

1 The Stock Bell 206B will start with the throttle closed. (Throttle on the collective stick) The OH-6A won't.

2 The Stock Bell 206B has a NAV/GPS switch. (Personally I can't see the point of having one unless an autopilot is fitted)

Just final observations and not intended as a criticism..:)

Absolutely understood now - thanks, and for sure, it's not taken as criticism Kit. Ascout's comment above about Com-C being a great place where we can air things like this out among an experienced and mature audience without worry of negative comments is VERY true and your time and attention is very much appreciated - as is everyone's.

This is a bit of neat little mystery however so there might be more questions just trying to duplicate it. We know there was a bit of possible buggery on some gauge files at first, but that doesn't explain your startup difference. Here are some (possibly incorrect) observations that maybe we should rule out anyway....

Starting with the throttle closed - dumb question but is your joystick throttle raised even a tiny bit? For me, it will start without messing with the collective but unless I wait a little bit for the RRPM to come up to 100%, raising the joystick throttle (which acts as collective) will kill the RRPM. But otherwise, by just clicking the red toggle switch (or pressing CTRL-SHIFT-F4) she fires right up for me and runs as long as my joystick throttle is closed. I wish your condition could be duplicated.

And are your difficulty/realism settings set very high like at 100%? Might sound kinda chicken, but mine aren't - I run at around 80% on several items only because for helo flight, MS missed the mark and the 100% settings are highly unrealistic - even real-world helo pilots find MS helicopters almost unflyable at the 100% settings, and the general recommendations among the dedicated helo pilots is to runat about 80%. I'm wondering if the higher realism also contributes to engine startup procedures that are more finicky, you see where I'm going?

I'm probably still way off-base here because if it were true I'd think the B206 would act this way also. Whats got us scratching our heads is that the config in general and many other things are simply as provided with the B206 which is a common way to branch off another helo. Model files are diffferent, flight model is different, everything else looks the same to the naked eye. Hmmmm.

Agreed on the GPS/NAV switch.....wonder what it actually does in the B206 since you can't engage autopilot at all anyway......

Post subject: Re: Helo BETA Tester?

I have found that with most helos, when I first start them I make sure the mixture and rotor pitch were at full, and the throttle cracked about 1/2 inch. Then I watch the rotor speed climb to the double red lines. Once the needle is between the lines the aircraft will fly. If you try before that, it will die, or the engine power will reduce as you give it throttle. Every helo I fly will do it. You can use the auto start function, and it will usually start, but you still have to wait for that needle to get to the same point to fly.
