Yes sir it's time for the best airshow on the planet, the Commemorative Air Force 2006 airshow. October 7th and 8th. Midland International Airport (KMAF), Midland, Texas.
If you can make it, this is one of the best Airshows of the Season. the C.A.F. has the best reenactments of the most famous air battles of WW 2 including the attack of Pearl harbor flown by the Tora Tora tora pilots. Famous air battles of Europe, and the Pacific are flown by actual aircraft of the theatre. P-51, P-47s B-17s B-25s Zeros, Wildcats, Hellcats Avengers, and many many more will fill the skies......... You'll see all the major air battles of WW 2 and learn a little history on the way. The American Airpower Heritage Museum www.airpowermuseum.org/ is full of all kinds of history of WW 2, from the victory gardens on the homefront to the most distructive weapon ever unleashed.
Also this year for the first time there will feature a Vietnam Segment. It will be reenacting the rescue of a downed pilot featuring a L-19 and O-2A F.A.C. An A-1 Skyraider, and A-26 making several enemy supression runs,(the effects will be very good we're told), AC-47 "Spooky" orbiting the area, and the rescue team of an AH-1Cobra and a UH-1D Huey, who will pick up the good guy. Ohhhhhhhh Yeah... This will be good guys!

My Squadron (Desert Squadron) is going to host the World War 2 veterans tent. This is a great honor for me because these people (the greatest generation) are leaving us daily and every one I meet teaches me something I didn't know. If you know someone from that period take time to listen to their stories... please.... And always remember their sacrafice and all the sacrafices of all military personel of all wars past and present..
