New Australian M1 ABRAMS images
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Looks like a quick change handle??

Certainly is... interestingly enough 50cals must be getting in short supply due to attrition or whatever as the other day I saw on the news some WW2-era M2 aircraft guns with the perforated barrel jacket in use in Iraq.

Cool

Found this quite interesting....

Don
Bob ID'd it. It is the M2 with QCB or Quick Change Barrel. Requires no head space and timing settings.

Yes but I suspect they would just fit one of their generic ARV or bridgelayer installations on top of a couple of those 20 spare M1 the aussies bought...

Now there's thought........... Wink

The M3M .50cals are extremely popular with Users particularly the Helo community...............the US has ordered significant quantities in recent months, the UK uses them on Lynxes of various kinds particularly for "Junk Bashing" patrols...............all round an excellent piece of Kit! Mr. Green

Ain't too much mud this time of year

BUG

There's not much mud anywhere at the moment but all the red skippies seem to have had the same treatment.

I suppose it would depend on how fatigued the Leos are but it should be possible to mount a 155mm gun. There are several conversions for other older MBTs and it would be a cheap option, particularly with other Leo-based support and command vehicles.

I'll be sans PC for the next few days so Merry Christmas to all!

David
