....or five, or nine, or whatever. Yet, not exactly.....

Yeah, I know that, but by convention when there are fewer than three in a symetric pattern (as in these examples from the Romanian Military Museum) we call them "V's", "L's", or "Boxers", depending on how they are arranged. And they can be distinguished from true radials from how their crankpins are configured. Even Harley engines don't use the "ring" method of connecting rod connection of radial engines, but a forked connecting rod assembly, historically. Wink
