Open House AAR (LST/R.M.P./Patton Museum)
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Open House AAR (LST/R.M.P./Patton Museum)

I figured I would start a new thread for all the photos & information from todays successful 'OPEN HOUSE'.

Thanks to all the members (& their guests) for stopping by the LST building today.

I'll start this off with Vehicle info updates from LST:

(Front Row, Center of LST Building)
T17E1 Staghound: SN C115769 (?)

(Left Side of LST Building)
M18 Hellcat: N/A
M41A3 Walker Bulldog: SN 1080
M3A3 Stuart: 10673
T5E1(Phase 1): SN USA W 30369
M3 GMC w/ 75mm: RN: MCV226(?)
M4A1E13 Sherman (Flamethrower):SN 7152
M4A3E2 Sherman (Jumbo): SN 50429
M4A3 Sherman: SN 2804
M59 APC: N/A
XM800-W: SN 002 ( Turret SN 0023 )

(Right Side Of LST Building)
M103A2: SN 666 / RN 233150
M60A3: SN 3621A / RN JJ009C
M60A1: SN 09A12771 (?)
M60: SN 913881
M48A2C: SN 923
M47: SN 2947
M46: SN 368
T95 (Test Rig): SN 8
MBT70: NS 6 / RN 09A00668

I'll update this with some select photos, when I get them downloaded. I'm sure AJ2, ChrisC and a few others will have some choice photos to add when they have a chance.

A great time, especially when I got to cruise around the Motor Pool in the Ontos . (HEH HEH HEH.. Mr. Green ..'Happier than a PIG in SLOP!!!)

"IT's MILLER TIME!!!"

Don

Looks better inside than I'd expect it to, considering it sat outside for a long time...

...and I hope you're kidding about no exterior shots! Shocked

Mine didn't turn out very good. Crying or Very sad

HOWEVER,....AJ2 Took a bunch with his nifty camera & tripod, so I'll bet he'll light up this thread with all his shots. (When he gets around to it.)

Don, first off many thanks for the info & pics!

M3 GMC w/ 75mm: RN: MCV226(?)

Sigh... Well that solves the mystery of the missing M3 GMC that used to be on the Mile of Tanks at APG. MCV is the Ordnance Museum designation system for US combat vehicles (FMCV is for foreign). And sure enough 226 is the right number...

M103A2: SN 666 / RN 233150

Clearly this is an EVIL tank! Wink

M60A1: SN 09A12771 (?)

Thats an RN (and matches up to the Patton Museum inventory).

T95 (Test Rig): SN 8

Unfortunately I think this proves there is no correlation between T95 chassis numbers and serial numbers...

Don, thanks again for the heads-up and hanging out at the LST building today. Those "disembarking" shots turned out great. Wink All the volunteers I talked to were awesome; I hope they do this again.

Doug, I did get a few shots of the T5, but they're essentially the same as Dontos's.

I also have higher-res versions if you want. Originals were 2048x1536.

Don, is this an M60A0? Way too long to be an SN I would think, but doesnt have a letter to be an RN...

I'm going to play devils advocate here before I agree with that statement.

Don - Did we get a picture of the lower front hull similar to the one I got of the Weirton T95 with the serial number cast in? Is that where you got the 'SN 8' above? if not where did that number come from? Do you have an RN either on the vehicle or in museum records for that beast?
