Korean War T-34 Picture
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Not to be insulting here, but if a CG is 'Assisting in killing tanks', he must have REALLY been 'location challanged'......(LOST). Or even worse, "Failed to understand the tactical situation, and was in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Just being a bit cynical

That pretty much explains the Gen Dean situation. He led the 'Quick Reaction Force' That deployed from Japan when the North invaded the South and in the retreat down the peninsula was captured. I remember reading about it years ago (like in a scholastic books book on the Korean War I bought at a Junior High School book sale

The next step after that (I was working from a 40 year old memory when I wrote that Rolling Eyes ).

I didn't realize he had received the medal of Honor. Shocked

www.militarymuseum.org/DeanCMH.html

And if the quote at the bottom of that page is accurate I would say he aggreed with your assesment of the situation.

Tragic results when one is expected to win in an unwin-able situation. His obvious pain must have driven him to the grave. No 'rightous' leader should carry such a burden.

Task Force Smith was a casualty of an uncaring / unprepared Country, an unprepared government, and a military (as a whole) which was allowed to stagnate following WWII.

Not Gen Deans fault.
