During a trip to this city my father took this photo from his taxi. It is at the gate of a local army barracks. Is this a Vijavanta or a modified Centurion??

hi ya just by looking at the picture it looks very much like a vickers mk 1 tank and it is NOT a Centurion. Ossie

Here is a Centurion (someone smarter than me will know the Mark), from almost the same angle.

Hi ya Ok this is a Mk5 centurion when built but upgraded to a MK11 for the Canadian army. The same configuration was also used by UK. I know my Centurions. By the way the Vickers mk1 and Vijavanta is the same vehicle but one is built in UK the other in India Hope this helps Ossie

Its an uparmoured version of the Vijayanta mk 1. It was supposed to be a transitional model between the Mk 1 & Mk 2 but neither it or the Mk 2 was produced in any numbers. Most of them ended up as war memorials.
