Hi Neil!

Super set of photos again! Thank You Sir!

Any idea why the Museum is calling that M113A1 an "E1"?
From what I can see in your photos, it looks like a standard isssued "A1" to me.

???

I wonder how a V-100 would be with the 20mm cupola from an M114A2?

M113A1E1 sounds like a test bed: www.stormingmedia.us/7...67070.html

I agree, in fact looking at the rear fenders it looks like it started out as an A1 instead of a gasser converted. Unless the A1E1 is a variant not explained of the A1. Kinda puzzling. But I'm most familiar with A3's.

I went back in the shop to check this out, and the opening in both vehicles are the same diameter, and looks to be the same bolt pattern (except not using all the bolts in the V-100) I believe it could be done easily enough. These are great pics...its a shame the V100 is missing so much stuff Sad
Does anyone know of a M114A2 on display where one might be able to measure a few cupola/gun mount parts for duplication purposes? And BTW, Happy 2008!

An M113A1E1 was the prototype for the M113A2 - with the new engine, transmission, etc. Does it not look like an "A2"?

The way I spot an A2 is by the exhaust outlet. It's straight instead of curved like the A1.

Hi Neil! Hi Folks!

Neil

I worked with the "A0" and the "A1" during my time. The "A2" came after I retired. Without seeing the engine I have no idea how to tell the difference.

As for the exhaust pipes, I seen "A1"s with the type that "E1" has.

Thanks Neil!
