Attachment on T72 (first Gulf War)
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Attachment on T72 (first Gulf War)

Hi there,
I have a question for all you members.
Look at this link, please.

http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=128154

At least two of the digged in T72 shown a two grey lines attachment that started (or finished?) from the left side, near the exaust, and went externally on the glacis plate in front of the driver station.

One of the pics.

Anyone knows about this?
Thanks in advance.

That tank is currently in the Patton Museum.

The attachment is pipe that is welded onto the exhaust outlet on the left rear. It appears to provide a thermal / dust signature which would obscure advanced sights.... Ingenious, if you ask me.

I can try and locate close ups of the 'contraption' that I have or can get some fresh shots in a few days....

Hello:

I've got a few pictures posted here:

www.ipmslondon.ca/old%...s/id5.html

I'm afraid the webmaster hasn't updated the picture links yet, but I can email you higher-resolution versions of the pictures if you would like (once I dig them out).

Cheers,

Scott

Thanks Don.

Thanks Scott, great reference pictures. Smile

I don't think it was an useful item but is appreciable the effort. Rolling Eyes

I welcome any other information about.

Regards

Giacomo
