What's the latest on the Armor Center move to Fort Benning? Mad

I hope I don't "ruffle any feathers" here, but this is my take on it. Leave the Armor museum at Knox and the Infantry museum at Benning. Seems like alot of $$$$ and logistical support to just move museums when it's not needed. Just because you move schools, shouldn't mean that Knox is no longer the home of Armor, and that Benning is no longer the Home of Infantry / Airborne training.

Jeff, I think the whole thing is a bad idea! Some bean counter in DC must have come up with the idea. If Benning needs more people then they should get the brigade that is scheduled to go to Knox. Would save a lot of money. Evil or Very Mad

Hate to say it, but after the Armor Center & School moves, Fort Knox will be the home of a light infantry brigade and the US Army Personnel Command... Is Fort Riley still the "home" of the Cavalry?

They do have the a mounted color guard. Don't think we use horses anymore.

I believe the Armor Museum will move to Benning, but the Patton Museum will remain.

2011-12 is the latest projection. The Patton Museum will still exist at Ft. Knox, it just won't be the Army's armor museum any longer. Its' focus will be on Patton's life, the men and equipment he commanded and the history of Ft. Knox.

The movement of vehicles to Ft. Benning will be done in tiers. It will still be basically as I've reported here before, everything but duplicates will go to the new armor museum at Ft. Benning. If we have two of something, the best one will go.

It sucks, but that's life.
