COOL PLANE!!!!! I like single-engine, high-wing utility aircraft a lot, favorites of mine, and a radial-engined one is all the better!

Have a strange problem tho......shortly after getting airborne there's a sharp "BANG" and I loose power...Im handling the power gently and throttling back after takeoff, and my Russian isn't good enough to investigate the readme file.....anyone else having this problem?

Lol, unfortunately, the read-me is written in a non-standard russian char-set; example: "Ñàìîëåò ßê-12À äëÿ MSFS2004."

Even loading MS cyrillic font support (which I have), there's no way turn such text in a readable one... but if you have any kind of "translator" for this kind of scribbling, please let me know Wink

my translator says "Ñàìîëåò ßê-12À äëÿ" means "Aircraft Yak-1 for"

I could probably get it close lol

I tried flying it this morning, and I too had the bang and engine died. I wasn't far out of a field, so I was able to deadstick it in.

No, MD, I'm stuck to IE, at least for now, and I'm so swamped in to too many things at present that I won't find time to switch to another explorer for months - but I'll keep in mind Firefox has this option, so that when there's some Vodka available, we know where to rush to get it Mr. Green

Post subject: Re: Yak-12 - very nice, have a look

Well, I saw what appeared to be some kind of discussion and info in one of the links that Rodion supplied above, and so I ran it through good ol' Babelfish ( babelfish.altavista.com ) and it translated it!

Now.......the challenge is in figuring out the context....here's how it came out:

Already the first questions (true, on other site), this it gladdens. Means someone not only it draws off.

1. if persistently is not started an engine. As a rule, this from the fact that the previous flight was carried out on some aircraft, in which simply overlapped fuel-. We make Ctrl Shift F4 and we preserve flight.

(My take is he means it CTRL-SHIFT-F4 because of how a prevously-loaded aircraft was set up - Stoop)

2. aircraft dies away in flight. Here several reasons. To fuel- enters of one's own accord, possibly it were carried out acrobatic maneuver, or they flew upward by wheels. Possibly, fuel- ended.
(Not enough fuel loaded, or negative G's / inverted flight? - Stoop)

3. aircraft dies away with the crash (saucepan against the asphalt). They overheated engine (this 2yay*S). We do not forget to regulate the temperature also in flight. Alas, lubrication system "samopravil'nookhlazhdayemaya". Omission.
(Aha...the "saucepan against the asphalt" sound rings a bell......sounds like we gotta open the cowl vents a'la the Grumman Radial Widgeon, which also cuts out when overheating.... - Stoop)

4. aircraft dies away on the earth on the small revolutions. Is here realized not only old cab and fuselage, but also engine. With the starting a little add GAS, yes even during the motion on the earth do not be fascinated by small revolutions. To kapitalit' time. By the way, if they flew far (for me it was necessary to test even on the route in 700 km for the search for the concealed defects), and they urgently distract you, then you can use the defoltnym autopilot (Z, Ctrl H, also, in the level flight - Ctrl Z). It is disconnected analogously (Z) with the sound signal. Successful flights!
(Sounds like ya gotta keep a little throttle up at idle or the engine will die... - Stoop)

Post subject: Re: Yak-12 - very nice, have a look

Oh what the heck..."borrowed" a little more and translated it...along with this helpful shot they had:

Greatly we apologize ourselves, that they did not supply packet with small tutorialom. Thus, we look at the picture below and we memorize. We start according to numbers.

1. is pivoted crane
2. we check pressure
3. it is included AZS starting
4. we shut the shutter of cooling in the direction minus (it is possible to verify, after glancing from the front in the motor section).
5. screw to the maximum - plus.
6. we check, that ignition 1+2)
7. we switch oned (harvest the button of starting.

Now under the conditions of work.

According to rekomendovannomu for this stage of regime we establish GAS, checking on the supercharging, and then we install SCREW on the necessary revolutions.

On the cooling. Progrevayem with the closed cowling, before the takeoff it is better cowling to open slightly, otherwise let us forget. In all are 4 positions of cowl flaps. Thus, for the rechecking recently it took off, established supercharging 630, and revolutions to 1760. Height 300, on street +15. cowling opened half. Aircraft flew at a rate of 150 km/h and temperature stopped to 205 *. in the course of 15 minutes of any tendency toward an increase in the temperature. It complicated conditions. Outboard made +35, supercharging 730, revolutions to 1860. It opened shutters completely. It flew already 15 minutes. Result on the picture. Speed 160, and temperature stopped to 210 *

happy way!

OK, I think I can fiure that "screw" means "turn the knob", and "harvest the conditions of starting" means "crank 'er up", and that the "shutter of cooling" that can be verified by glancing at the front motor section is the cowl vent......might take a while to figure out what a pivot crane is tho.... Smile

Happy Way, gents!
