Do You Want M551 Manuals?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

For a limited time I've uploaded all of the M551 manuals to my web site on PDF format. Download them if you can use them.

If they'll let you in it would be worth it to check out the armory in North Las Vegas. Home of the 1/221st Armored Cav. Haven't been there since they had M48A5's! Shocked

Don't know but it is a very large facility. The old facility on Eastern Ave had an M41 and it's gone so I assume it's at this newer place.

Hi,

North LV? Didn't know about an armory there. The one on Eastern is closed, and last I knew they had moved the whole shebang out to a new facility in Henderson, east of the highway.

I used to drill in the 'satellite' armory in Henderson, and spent plenty of time in the Eastern armory. All M60A3s and M901s when I was there...

I think the new armory has been out there about 10 years. The one in Henderson closed. You may remember the one in Henderson was a half mile or so out of town. It's surrounded by houses now. I'll nose around GoogleMaps and see what I can find on the new one. I bought a car from the full-time admin guy in Henderson. His name was Joe Johnson. Did you ever cross paths? Also knew the recruiter-"BJ". This was all back in the early 80's.

Mark,

1/221st ("Wildhorse") is currently deployed to sandbox. CO's pictures from around NTC in the past are probably familiar to some members here.

Thanks for posting the M551 manual links, BTW. Great stuff.

Jim,

On first attempt to quote Mark above, I was on the wrong line and inadvertantly editted your post putting my reply in. I think I undid the damage but if I stomped on some comments in the process, I apologize, please repost it.
