"The Trun scrapyard", 26 september 2010
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

here are some pictures I took today. Seems like there are still some heavy/tracked materials that could be recovered there. Any idea of what can be seen on these pictures?

You came 4 km from where I am and you did not knock at my door? Shame on you! (just kidding!)
What is leaving is the wreck of a M8 HMC which still have its Polish markings on the hull sides.
The other "vehicles" are the wrecks of pre WWII French Unic half-tracks. There were tons of scraps that had been removed from the field 3 years ago by the owner (who is German).
He then found buried almost 1 meter deep a brake of a panzer IV with some 10 tons of other parts. He didn't come back since then.
Whenever you are back in the area, please let me know.
Cheers from the "corridor of the death".

Manu,

en fait j'ai déménagé en Novembre 2009 et j'habite désormais à Flers.
Faudrait qu'on se voie un de ces 4. Tu es où exactement?

Still quite a bit of stuff there!
It'll need a few dozen willing volunteers with machetes to clear the undergrowth!
The paired bogies, Somua S35?

I don't think so, they are marked "Hutchinson".

The tracks come from a Renault R-35 tank, apparently.

Oops sorry but I'm afraid I don't have any shots of these markings.
The last time I saw them was 3 years ago.

Hutchinson are a well-known French manufacturer of cycle tyres,
The bogies do look very much like those from a Kegresse.

This is exactely what I explained in my first post.
The remains are of the Unic half-tracks type chassis.

we'll try to arrange a little trip with Manu and me, and see if the M8 wreck is still accessible. There are a lot of brambles that forbit the access to the vehicles. It would probably be easier to take pictures this winter.
