Unknown surviving Panzer IV being restored?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Unknown surviving Panzer IV being restored?

Hello,

"Sander D" came across these pictures, showing a Panzer IV being restored. That Panzer IV doesn't seem to correspond with surviving ones already known. First, I though that it was Kubinka's one, but it isn't. It is neither Saumur's Ausf. H late, nor Dresden's Ausf. H (both tanks are also being restored).

Any guess about its ownership and location?

Pierre-Olivier

Looking at the photos, it looks like a Centurion's sprocket in the top photo and various British posters on the wall in the bottom one.
So, who in the UK has PzIV?
Steve Lamonby (Photo missing on the big list!)
Cadman Bros (Pretty well intact?)
Wheatcroft (Website's back up & running)

Right guys, hot off the press.
It's at A+S in Suffolk, being restored for unnamed customer.
Apparently has an FV432 engine & gear box.
Also doing a Hetzer, www.arm-soft.com/ongoi.../index.php

thanks Adam !!

well, apparently, it is not the Cadman's one, and Kevin Wheatcroft would make it being restored by his oww team. So, it could be Steve Lamonby's tank.

Yep, no updates, which is a pity.
On the subject of the PzIV, just because it's being restored in the UK, doesn't necessarily mean it's being restored for a UK owner.

could be the tank listed as "G-13 Tank Destroyer wreck - 12th SS-Panzerdivision reenactment unit, CA (USA)". There are some similarities between the two vehicles, see the pic below :

The Hetzer in the UK looks to be in better condition, they look the same but the UK one's floor and hull sponsion is in better condition than the US one, and with the gun mount missing from the UK one you can see it looks to be in better condition. Maybe wrong ,but they look to be different Hetzers.
