Our plans and trips to military museums
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Walter, could you give an estimate of the amount of vehicles in Munster? I don't need an exact number, just a range.
Thanks

Around 100 vehicles. I wouldn't take walkarounds of all of them, but I can see like the place deserve a few days.

Thanks a lot!

Currently the only visit I have planned is a provisional one to Overloon (and maybe elsewhere in Holland) in May.

Very cool plan! Please take some extra shots of Tiger II and Panthers for me.
In Bovington I've got pictures of Sherman engines, all four variants. I'll send you them when ready for the Sherman website.

let me know what you need and I will take the photos for you. I already saw this tank in December 2008 and took about 20 photos.

If I go it will coincide with a work training course, but I'll certainly see if it could include Militrack.

Tichenor,
Do you know were all these Leopards are. Over the years I have seen only the following;

1 x Leopard 1 outside near the gate
1 x Leopard 1 outside on a railroadcar
1 x Leopard 1A1A4 inside
1 x Leopard 1A2A1 inside
1 x Leopard 1A5 outside
1 x Leopard 1A4 inside

Around and in Munster are several barracks with other tanks also, some visible from the outside.

Regards,
Lesley

Lesley

The ones from your list are all still there, only the 1A5 has been placed inside. The ones I have and are missing on your list are:
A driver training version: seen several years ago, but was missing last year.
The working group A prototype: located inside.
I have most of the serials and some pictures at my website, if you need some high resolution pictures ust let me know.

I maybe have a chance to visit Saumur in July.
One I want to visit is the new museum in Dresden, but the grand opening is for next year.

It's on my list too. I'll wait a bit after the re-opening, maybe a year. To let them time to settle down.
