The Netherlands AFV Registers
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi Michel

Congratulations with your work.
As usual, when it appears online, there will be remarks.

Here are mine: the M7B2 Priest you have for Helmond (private collection) has moved to Eindhoven. They have also a M5 Half track and a Humber Mk IV. See www.priestm7b1.nl (BTW it was a B2 but its been rebuild to B1, SN 4376 RN 40152839).

The entry for Ede (private collector) is (if my information is correct) in 't Harde. He also has a M20, Ferret, two universal carriers, a M16 half track. The M36 Jackson listed a bit further is also his.

Hi Don

you know the problem with privately owned vehicle's, most of the time you will only find them accidentally

So I decided to release the first copy with the vehicle's that are easy to find and check
I'm still working on the privately owned vehicle part of the register

However after youre post I did some digging and I have actually found one privately owned

The vehicle is from an member of Keep Them Rolling, somewhere in the north-east part the Netherlands
The vehicle has Canadian markings and the number on the vehicle is 116588 with the Dutch plate ZZ-71-76

Around time 2:29-2:36 the Staghound appears in the following video
www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lwYZ9AK0Fw
The video was taken in 2005 during an military event called "Liberty Tour"

So far this is the only thing of visual evidence about an privately owned Staghound that I could find

Of the privately owned military vehicle club's, the vehicle's from "Keep them Rolling" are the most difficult one's to trace
Mainly because there is no real list if vehcile's (at least I did not find it) and they operate nation wide

Michel

I didn't see a listing for a privately owned T17E1 Staghound. I have recently had contact with such an owner in the Netherlands, but not sure exactly where.

Regards
Don

Youre welcome

and I'm still finding new stuff every week Laughing

I'm also planning to visit some of the big WW2 events in the Netherlands this year, to see "what may come to the surface"

This year is the 65th year of the liberation, so there will be some special things happening

by the way, I discovered yesterday that there was an Archer at Stichting Nationaal Militair Museum, Soesterberg, thanks to the new Nehterlands AFVs register.

Hi folks,

small update concerning the Netherlands AFV register

P-O got the first release copy to review on lay-out and stuff like that

If there are no major issues, the idea is to have it online next weekend (6/7-feb)

The one in Full has british matkings but, most likely, it's a former swiss army vehicle, it has no headboard. Same for the one in the armeemuseum in Thun (it's a different vehicle than the one in the panzermuseum).

I have a full walkaround of the Full's vehicle too, I can post pics if it could help.

- Massimo_Foti
the one in Thun's panzermuseum

That is one of the two that I also found

The other was at an military collectors event called Swiss Militaryshow 2008

www.swissmilitaryshow....201944.JPG

Both have the tilt, however both do not have the Headboard.... Neutral

This is a Swiss T16 Carrier or Pz Begl Fz UC

That's the one in Thun's panzermuseum. I have a full walkaround of it, feel free to ask if you want to see some specific detail.

Indeed I have never seen the headboard before, that is why I was hoping Jim knows more about it.

This is a Swiss T16 Carrier or Pz Begl Fz UC (Panzergrenadier Begleit Fahrzeug Universal Carrier):
commons.wikimedia.org/...arrier.jpg

The dished wheels are a late wartime production feature, but not seen in action during WW2 if I recall correctly.

The picture's of the Swiss vehicles I could find have the tilt at the rear, however there is no "headboard" between the drivers position and the rear part of the vehicle

I checked some pictures too, and was unable to find the "headboard". But I can't confirm or deny, sorry.

The one at Eede is an ex-Swiss T16

If this is an Swiss T-16 carrier, than this is not an very standard version of it Confused

I searched for some surviving cariers in Swiss musuem and there are at least 2 major differences
- first, the "headboard"
The picture's of the Swiss vehicles I could find have the tilt at the rear, however there is no "headboard" between the drivers position and the rear part of the vehicle

- second, the solid type roadwheels and idler wheels
I can not remember seeing that before, either WW2 or post-war
