I have been searching and Continental has been and still is an German company

The actually name is Continental AG and it was founded in 1871 in Hannover, Germany

From what I could find, they did not go to the US untill 1987 when it bought an US tire manufacturer called General Tire
(I think all US companies start or end with General Mr. Green

)

At the present time it is part of the German Scheaffler Group, known in Europe for INA roller bearings

This brings me to the following question. Was Continental a German or a US firm before the 2nd WW? This because I've seen German tanks from the 2nd World War with rubber around the roadwheels with the name ''continental'' on it.

I remember that I was very surprised about this.

Valid point. The triumph of business interests over other considerations. As long as this thread doesn't take an ominous political swerve, there is no harm in acknowledging history.
