Surviving Panzers website
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

IoW Military Museum, website says they have 6 Churchills on site for "restoration". Only 1 plus a turret on the .pdf.
www.isleofwightmilitar...page3.html

I think that Trevor Larkum could confirm this, IIRC he visited the Isle of Wight museum some months ago. If we are lucky enough, he could have some pictures too.

Pierre-Olivier

I have 420 photos from IOWMM in my backlog waiting to go online. From a quick skim through them looking for Churchills:

1. Hull inside, painted green, with tracks.
2. Hull outside, rusty, no tracks.
3. Hull outside, rusty, with tracks.
4. Hull in a lean to, rusty, with tracks.
5. Complete tank inside, painted sand.

I also have photos of the A30 Challenger - it's in poor condition, they're restoring it for Bovington.

Another Israeli Cromwell survivor?

I don't think so, for me that's an old photo of the Cromwell which is now a part of WWII Memorial in Latrum

Heck! That's would destroy my plans for next year Sad
Maybe Latrun could be a good option even in winter... If not I could be forced to move into planes museums instead

Massimo

PS We really should move this into a dedicated thread

It is to far to drive from north Poland to Ankara by car.

This year I will be 100% in Sofia.

Are you planning a Bucharest - Sofia - Ankara trip?

The destinations I hope to visit within the next 12-24 months are:

- Munster. This deserve a few days, but it's closed in winter and it's hard for me to spend more than a weekend in spring/summer
- Koblenz. Can reach it by train and spend 1-2 days
- Belgrade. Could do a weekend trip during the summer
- Sofia. Same as above
- Duxford. Most likely the target for my "free week in winter" next year, while wife and daughter go skiing.

I still have dreams of visiting Latrun and Kubinka, but the logistics is more complicated.

My guess it that time and budget constrains would prevent him to visit Ankara. At least this time around Smile

Massimo

PS Sofia is still among my top 5 destinations, but I am not sure I will manage to visit it this summer

Tank Museum in Ankara (Turkey) should be on your priorities because there is none good/recent photo gallery from it.

Looks like it could be my destination for my birthday weekend, since the £180 for a ferry to Holland, to get to Overloon is a bit too much!

Anyway this museum is a must-see for me and I plan to visit it (but don't know when exactly ..)

By the way, the museum also claims to have an A30 Challenger (to my knowledge the last survivor is at Overloon), and I thought they had 4 Comets and 2 Shermans (they claim to have 3 Comets and 1 Sherman). Not sure if the list is correct and accurate.
