The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: a few more photos from Life...
There is a series of shots of sending US M5A1s to Formosa in 1950. Here is a link to one, but if you use the "more" search to the right of the photo panel there are several good shots. I imagine the M5s looked about the same during shipment in WW2. Interestingly, so of the M5A1s were carried in gondolas versus flatcars. They would have to loaded and unloaded via crane as the cars don't appear to be the types with folding ends.

There is also an interesting series of what appears to be a National Guard or Reserve unit mobilizing in 10-61, loading M41s onto flatcars at Camp McCoy (again use the "more" function):

Here is one of the better shots I've seen of the M8 HMC in French use in Indochina. The M8 appears to carry the map-of-France insiginia associated with the 2eme DB in 1944.
