State Arsenal Military Museum - Lincoln, NE Photo Gallery
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Got a shot of the M4A3E8 tow lug - looks as if someone exposed the SN - not me! Appears to be 44098.

Hello Paul and Lorèn,

44098 was manufactured by Chrysler, and I would say that it has been manufactured in 1944 with VVSS and remanufactured in the 1950s with HVSS.

43944 (located at Fort Hood) is another example of VVSS M4A3(76) remanufactured to HVSS.

That matches that this tank has the signs of conversion from VVSS to HVSS. I was able to identify that but never was able to get to the S/N - great catch!
