Visited the Virginia War Museum today...
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Visited the Virginia War Museum today...

Hello to all, I just returned from the VA War Museum today and took about 72 pictures of various armor, field pieces, etc... I'll list them below and if there are any requests, Ill share them;
M60A3 3pics.
M53 155mm Howitzer with 5 interior pics as well.
Soviet 122mm Howitzer 2pics.
M42 Duster 2 pics plus 2 interior turret pics.
Tractor 1917 6ton with 4 interior shots, data plate, info board.
M5A1 Stuart with 4 interior pics.
10ton WWI tractor with data plate and info board.
240mm T1 Howitzer 3pics.
Plus many Howitzers, 50cal watercooled MG, field guns, AA guns, and of course, various mortars. I also took pics of the WWII Submarine Memorial and Chesapeake & Ohio Locomotive.
I have serial numbers for the M60, M42, M53, and possibly the Stuart, as well as some field guns.

I hope you got the map of all the artillery & vehicles outside? They have a sheet they can give you that gives the identity of all of them, but you have to ask for that. Sorry, I should have mentioned that before. I can probably help if you have any you couldnt identify.

Actually, I asked for and got the sheet, and its not up to date. There were a couple pieces not listed or in a different location, but not many. A pretty neat little museum. They mentioned that they wanted to repaint the outdoor peices again. I told them when they did, they needed to clean off the serial number places real well first. The M60A3 was unreadable on the front tow lug but I was able to barely read it on the rear upper deck. I found no markings on the M53 Howitzers outside but there was a serial number on the inside data plate.Someone had scrapped the M42's markings clear already so I was able to record them. It looked as if the M5 Stuart had yellow bleeding through the OD where it had been rubbed or chipped in spots, I found that starnge.

Jeff,

I truly appreciate your spending your spare time in military nirvana and sharing the fruits of your labor with us, thank you very much.

I'd be in the market for the following:

M53
M42
Tractor M1917 6ton
10ton tractor
240mm T1

If the AA exhibits include a 75mm Skysweeper, a 90mm and an M1 120mm, I'd dearly love to see those as well, especially the 120mm.

Thank you

Jens O.
