OT: Tank vs. PX & MP station...
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: OT: Tank vs. PX & MP station...

So, the tale I've told a few times before (falling, I'm sure on a few incredulous ears) is of the G.I. who, in 1972 or '73, felt himself wronged by the MP's at a traffic stop planned his revenge. This took the form of borrowing an M60A1 from Boatwright Tank Depot (I think it was) about 2AM with the plan to run through the old WWII vintage wooden MP barracks (which would be about like putting an H-1 Hummer through a paper house).
Blinded by rage, and an apparent ignorance of the finer details of Fort Knox, he mistook the (then) MP station on the corner of Seventh Ave (now Spearhead Div. Ave) for the barracks. He further mistook the branch PX/dining hall for the MP station, which he visited first. Upon coming to work the next morning, it was immediately apparent to us what had transpired as the PX lay directly between the Armor Board and Heard Motor Park, the Armor Board motor pool.
The perp was unimpeded in his search for the barracks, but was prevailed upon by the MP's to stop before anyone got hurt....we heard he got six years hard labor at Leavenworth for his tantrum.

Thanks to Dontos and the Patton Museum for providing the "then" pics to back up my "now" views of the scars left on today's PAO office and corner Fire Department...
