I bet their rallies are a hoot! I'm gettin' images like chicks participating in hot dog "weenie bites" from behind a Roto-Ette Model 2, slow-till contests, and dirty old men yelling "show us your +i+s" to 70 year old home canning specialists in gingham dresses.

Shocked
You can also read about Larry Bells' "Bell Prime Mover" motorized wheelbarrow (""Bell shut down the Burlington plant and brought its key people to Buffalo. Commercial business appealed to Bell, and he asked his staff to suggest applications for a small horsepower engine. Rather than subcontract, why not develop a complete product based on the company's capability to turn out inexpensive engines? A meeting was held in Bell's office to review the results of the survey. He was dissatisfied. "Lawnmowers, scooters, farm implements - these fields are too crowded," said Bell. "Hasn't anyone got a likely product?"

"There was silence as Bell looked around the room."

"Well," he said, "we're going to put a small engine on something, even if it's a wheelbarrow!"

The Bell Prime Mover motorized wheelbarrow was the final product. ")

...and the view the cutest little tractor, ever.

What's cool is that the originating company in Troy MI later came to be known as Troy-Bilt......the same mfr. of my beautiful self-powered Tuff-Cut 230 (with bagging attachment) that I spend hours with each weekend!! YES!!!! (pumps arm up and down)

You can have your Cub Cadets, Craftsmans, Toros and Lawn-Boys....its Troy-Bilt for me all the way baby.....damn fine piece of American history there!!!

As for a particular manufacturer of German tillers.....well that answered a few RW questions for me.....who else in the world would make an electric version with a cord that'd be gauranteed to get caught in the tillers.... Rolling Eyes

That is what you typically do to get that beer to your mouth and back down to that troy built beer can holder. Wink
