Dutch Army in Afghanistan
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Looks like the Dutch are using a Patria wheeled APCs, YPR765 tracked APCs, Something 2000 155mm SPGun, Mercedes 4x4's and the ubitiquous SF Land Rover. There are Romanians there with what look like BTR80 or 90 8x8s

Forgot to mention a Kangaroo MPV made in Australia. There was a news story in Canada that Canada had loaned the Dutch some RG31 MPVs. The Dutch would replace them if/when they get damaged in a mineblast. The journalist was trying to making a connection access to Dutch Chinooks that were once owned by the Canadian Air Force, but were sold off +20yrs ago.

Forgot to mention a Kangaroo MPV made in Australia...

That's a Bushmaster IMV. Or at least, it is when it's in Australian service Wink

It is still called Bushmaster at the moment. There is one here at the barracks for driver training. At the moment some (3) of our drivers are undergoing training at this verhicle and they like it very much for its off the road capabilities compared to the Patria. Only complains were about the driversseat which they called to small.

Land rovers are only used by the RNl marines, the army uses MB290 GD 5kN and 7.5kN in the hard top and soft top variant.

At the moment there are 3 PzH2000s in Afghanistan of which one is reserve. One of the two which was supporting Medusa drove under it own power to the Dutch base in Uruzgan which was sometimes a bit difficult due to the small roads.

Regards,
Lesley
