Post subject: CoD 2 Review ( Long Overdue )

I usually wait and read the review that some of our CC member's post first and just add my 2 cent's to it , Figure somone better post a game review for Call of Duty 2 from ActiVision.

Call of Duty 2 - Released by Activision on Oct. 25th 2005 as a follow up to one of the highest rated FPS ever. (Call of Duty and United Offencive Expantion Pack ) This Game is a whopper weighing in at a heafty 4.0 GB with-in 6 disk's !! After purchesing this game , you have to hold you excitment for another 20 minutes after you get home just to install it !

Gameplay "Single Player" --- Let me start by saying "This game will keep you busy" - I have yet to attempt it on anything but NORMAL mode seeing as the AI in this game are EXTRODANARY . They outnumber you and your squad, Have MUCH better position and they like to throw grenades ... ALOT ! The mission's are difficult and take some time to complete , A real winner for all you buff's who enjoy a challange sitting all alone in the dark ... *lol*


Gameplay "Multi-Player" --- For those of you framilier with Combat Fight Simulator 1 & 2 - The comparison of gameplay speed and graphic's can be said the same with the Call of Duty - UO and Call of Duty 2 . Call of Duty 2 is a MUCH slower paced game , requiring more stratigy and most of all patience , Gun's are stronger ( more life-like im guessing ... I never been shot ... lol ) You have more enviromental issues such as smoke from bombed out building's , Dust devil's from the wind gust's and alot more places to hide and wait for you enemy's patience to ware out.

In a personal preference ( also held by the majority of players i have talked to ) There are a few patches that should be released to make this game 100% excellent.

----1---- The "Sprint" ability ( like the one in UO ) is not available in Call of Duty 2 / wich in my opinion put's the player in a no win situation when trying to flee a holding point.

----2---- The hit zone is a little too generous ... In NO situation should a bullet be able to hit and kill somone with the iron sites a 1/4 to their left ( maybe not quite that far but off none the less ) Let's patch this back to a center mass kill ... thank you in advance ... Smile

----3---- For those of you who like to play the "All Weapon's" game , You will notice the automatic's have very little to no recoil ... part of the fun of some of these games are picking the run and gunners off from a way's back with a bolt action rifle , Now that advantage is gone and you find yourself dead @ spawn alot cause nothing is slowing these players down anymore.

----4---- This one is the MOST important one of all ... Punk Buster need's to come out ASAP ... Few server's ran by folk's with no admin experience are getting alot of hack's in there room's ... Without the PB config set-up , Admin's have to set values themselves inorder to keep the bulk of cheat's out , and we all know thats alot to keep up with manually ... Find a select few servers out there , have fun there honing in your skill's , and wait for PB's release before you venture out to far and get rocked by some punk looking for attintion with his latest hack's and cheat's


All in all this game is a MUST have for your FPS fix ! Map's are small but fit the gametypes , It's a "Move at your own pace" type of game so no more trying to learn while flying at a million miles an hour , And the eye-candy alone is enough to make you graphic hound's drool for the next few hour's ... That's That until i figure more out to say.

I have CoD2 also and have been playing it offline when I get a few minutes here and there. I've made it to the end on the EASY settings *quit laughin..lol* and I'm now on the hard settings just about to the end of the Russian Campaign.

I've noticed the same things you have and I think they have dumbed down a few things and more especially the points you mentioned.

Still, if you liked the CoD, you'll like CoD2. Hours of fun and on the easy settings, can still be a challenge in a few of the scenes. I do like the way the helmets fly off from a scoped or open site rifle head shot, and the tank AI is a bit of a challenge and more so on the harder settings. I've learned that your AI team won't advance until you do and I've figured out that if you go toward your objective first, they'll follow. At times, the AI and I were talking turns advancing along a building. I would stop, he would advance, when he stopped, I advanced. Pretty cool stuff for AI IMO.

The movie scenes in the beginning and between certain maps is cool, but it makes the game require being put on a DVD due to the size. I think the overall size is 3.5GB...WOW.

I haven't done any MP yet, but will if I get time in the future and it's a shame to hear about no PB software on there and it's more of shame to need it...
