LAV Questions
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

What LAV variant is this? It appears to me that the bumper number says, "OR-ARNG'. Oregon Army National Guard?

Looks like a LAV command variant. Yes, the Oregon National Guard has some LAVs (bought on their own). They deployed them to New Orleans during Katrina...

In the Canadian Forces it is called the Bison.


Not quite. It's closer to a ASLAV-PC, but the roof is configured a little different. Accordinging to Hunnicut, 12 vehicles were procured by the National Guard in 1999. I know the ORANG uses them in their counter-drug unit. They were sent down for Katrina relief in `05. Dig thru this album and there are several pics of them in New Orleans.
