Hmmm, will be interesting to see what these Express versions have and don't have. MS is of course pushing developers into the next generation of tools since support for the old version (same languages but not nececssarily with .NET support) has been discontinued. Might even check out the C# Express version.....thanks for the heads up on this Bushy!

Wow, I begun downloading now - curious to see what's in there!
Thank you very much for the heads up, Jerry!

Yep...lol

They're promoting the move to MS' way of thinking. By providing MS programs for free at this point will allow people to get used to using their products. People hate to change by nature and once their used to MS..well, most will stay there... Wink

Can you say "Pay for updates!"....lol

Just notice that all these are "Express" versions of the main products, so I believe they are limited in features; I guess the full packages cost several thousand of $, and then you can pay even more if you subscribe for updates... Confused

So far I installed the Web Developer and the Visual Basic modules, and found no troubles... I have to wait tomorrow morning to download the rest, as now it seems there a lot of traffic there, and d/l speed in too slow.

Now installed the Visual C# module, and it's working fine - I also checked again the Web Developer and Visual Basic ones, both running well.

At present, downloading Visual C++.
I'll report later.

Now I finished to install C#, C++ and J#; everything working as it should.
If I understand well, you stumbled in a corrupted Net Framework module, which is necessary for all the 5 components of the Visual Studio.

When I loaded the Web Developer, the install program decided to install also Net Framework 2.0 (though I'm positively sure I had it already) and SQL Server. Same software wasn't requested for the other modules (probably because it was already present).

Case you still have troubles, consider you can download Net Framework 2.0 from here:
