So I went to close my land line with Verizon, who I also have internet service with and they say they don't provide just Internet service...I'll have to keep my land line also. We don't even use the landline anymore and even with the lowest landline rate we are currently paying, with the Internet it's $54 a month. Not paying that just to have their Internet service.

I also just dropped Time Warner Cable. Tired of the now $72 fee for basic cable and the chanels look like crap. Getting DirecTV installed this weekend. So my Question is has or does anybody use DirecTV's internet and what about Netzero, or any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I use Dish network. Expensive but they have a buttload of HD programming and I rarely lose the signal, even with a lot more storms than you'll ever experience out there. Service, when required, has been prompt and effective.

I am with Ascout, I paid off my directtv contract to go back to Dish - I use AT&T dsl - minimum acceptability...

Goodle providers in your area - most do not need anything but a line from a pole to your house, no phone.

I just checked with AT&T and it's $19.95 (3 Mbps which is what I have now) a month for the first 12 months, then I think $43 a month after that. Nice price for the first year but after that don't know. Guess that's about $10 bucks a month cheaper than I'm currently paying but still seems high for just internet. Maybe it's just because I've had the same carrier for so long.

For $29.95 for the first 12 months and $48 after that I can get 6 Mbps.

just threaten to leave unless they give you something special - if not, leave and go back as a new customer...
